Our Story

Mulberry Street Italian Food Center is proudly owned & operated by the Colasurdo family for 50 years. It all began on March 5, 1973 when Michael Colasurdo, Sr. opened A&M Meat Market in Jersey City, NJ with his wife, Ann. In October of 1974 the opportunity to relocate the business to Brick, NJ presented itself and Michael Sr. jumped at the chance to move his business closer to home.

In April of 1985 we moved to our current location on Brick Boulevard and changed our name to Mulberry Street Italian Food Center because it better reflected our expanding selection of Italian imports and our home-cooked family recipes. Michael and Ralph, his kids, joined the business shortly after.

Today, we represent two brothers, Michael and Ralph, working side-by-side, who are proud to carry on our Italian family’s wonderful tradition and legacy.
